What cookies do
Cookies are small pieces of data a service can store in your browser. Browser storage and similar technologies can also remember activity or preferences. An external website you visit from a link may use its own technologies, independently of this website.
Our current implementation
Local Housing Reports serves generated public HTML pages and uses Google Analytics 4. The navigation dialog and directory search do not require a visitor account. Google Analytics can use first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_<identifier> to distinguish activity and sessions. Actual names, lifetimes, and availability can vary with provider settings and browser restrictions. This is not a claim that analytics cookies are essential to reading the site.
Analytics and advertising settings
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how pages are used. The website’s configuration disables Google signals and advertising-personalization features. Analytics may still collect usage data and store cookies; disabling advertising features does not disable measurement. Analytics currently loads when public pages load. Browser controls and the provider’s opt-out tools offer choices described below.
Cookie categories and responsibility
Analytics technologies are used for measurement rather than to make an article readable. Technical storage used by a browser, hosting service, or security provider can serve a different purpose. An external contact or listing website controls its own cookies. The presence of a link does not mean Local Housing Reports controls all technologies on that destination.
Duration and removal
Some browser data lasts only for a session; other data can persist until expiration or deletion. Analytics cookie duration depends on provider settings and browser restrictions, and a return visit may refresh it. Clearing a cookie removes that browser’s stored value but does not necessarily delete data already processed by a provider. Browser controls must be set separately on each device or profile.
Managing your browser
Your browser can block or remove cookies and stored website data. Controls are usually under privacy or site settings and apply separately to each browser and device. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported desktop browsers. Disabling analytics should not prevent you from reading public articles or using the directory. External contact and listing services have their own requirements.
Searches and external services
Cookie controls do not remove search words already present in a URL, browser history, or server log. Avoid entering private details in the directory search. Following a source, property, or professional contact link takes you to a service with its own cookie policy. Review that service’s choices before submitting information.
Privacy signals and limitations
A Do Not Track preference, private-browsing mode, or a blocked third-party cookie is not the same as disabling every analytics request. The website does not currently provide a dedicated consent-management panel or represent that all browser opt-out signals automatically stop collection. Use the browser’s site controls or the analytics provider’s supported opt-out mechanism when you want to restrict that technology. Applicable privacy rights remain independent of these technical controls.
Keeping this notice current
This notice reflects the public implementation reviewed on the revision date. New embedded services or analytics changes may require an updated notice and additional visitor controls. Browser privacy signals alone should not be assumed to switch off every analytics request.
