A home estimate can prompt useful questions, but it should not decide what you offer. Let's examine the property and relevant completed sales before giving an automated figure too much weight.
For Tampa single-family homes, condos, townhouses and apartments, the latest market report gives an estimated value of a typical home of $430,010. That value is model-based and is not a formal appraisal. The typical sale price was $425,000 for completed sales. The typical asking price among homes listed for sale was $439,000.
An estimate, an asking price and a completed sale price answer different questions about property value. Those figures do not establish the value of an individual home or determine what you should pay. I would give greater attention to relevant sales and verified property details when helping you assess a possible purchase.
Review recent sales of similar homes with me, including meaningful differences in size, condition and features. Verify property details that matter to your decision rather than assuming an automated estimate accounts for them. Ask your lender how any required appraisal fits into financing before committing to an offer.
