Ham Lake, MN: Local News, Events & Community Guide — October 2026
Updated: October 16, 2026
Ham Lake, Minnesota, is a north-central Anoka County city whose development follows a rural, large-lot pattern spread among lakes and wetlands. Detached homes make up most of the residential landscape, while townhome, multifamily, and manufactured-home options occupy a smaller share. Commercial and industrial uses are concentrated along the Trunk Highway 65 corridor rather than forming a dense downtown, giving the city a dispersed, road-oriented built environment.
Trunk Highway 65 is Ham Lake's principal north-south connection toward the wider metropolitan area and also supports much of the city's commercial activity. Ham Lake Park provides a public boat launch, trails, ball fields, and other outdoor facilities, while the North Central Library is located in the Crosstown Shopping Center. Together, these road, recreation, and civic anchors help frame the practical setting around housing across the city.
