Melissa, TX: Local News, Events & Community Guide — September 2026
Updated: September 20, 2026
Melissa, Texas, is a North Texas city in Collin County with a suburban residential pattern organized around a historic core and newer development along major roads. Residential subdivisions and detached houses make up much of the built landscape, while city zoning also accommodates multifamily and mixed-use settings in designated areas. The environment shifts from residential streets and larger open parcels at the edges to a lower-scale civic and commercial core along State Highway 5.
U.S. 75 and State Highway 5 provide the principal north-south connections, while Melissa Road connects the city with the highway corridor. The city-operated hike-and-bike trail follows parts of Melissa Road and Fannin Road, and Bob Miller Park contributes a pavilion, playground, and restrooms to the public recreation network. Together, these roadway and public-space assets help frame the everyday access and amenities surrounding local housing choices.
