Updated: October 31, 2026
Northport, New York, is an incorporated waterfront village on the eastern side of Northport Harbor within the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County. Its built environment centers on a Main Street business district near the harbor, with older low-rise architecture and surrounding residential streets that are predominantly made up of detached single-family homes. The village also includes townhouse and condominium areas, adding compact housing options alongside detached homes.
Daily errands and civic life are anchored by the Main Street business district, while Village Park, Cow Harbor Park, and the village dock extend the center toward Northport Harbor. Public beaches and smaller parks add open space within Northport, and the Long Island Rail Road can be reached through Northport station in nearby East Northport for connections across Long Island and toward New York City. Together, the compact center, waterfront public spaces, and regional transportation access give buyers, sellers, and renters a practical way to compare housing settings within the village.
